Delegated Accounts

What is a Delegated Account?

Drift V2 has an account delegation feature.

This feature allows users to grant another Solana account limited access to their account on Drift. Users may wish to delegate trading execution to a professional trading team.

What can a Delegated Account do?

Delegated authorities on Drift can:

  • deposit funds;
  • place orders; and
  • cancel orders.

Users can only delegate access to one party (authority).

Full control over the account still stays with the owner. A delegated party can not:

  • withdraw funds;
  • close the account; and/or
  • change or remove existing account delegation parameters.

How do I delegate access to my account?

Delegates can only be set programmatically. There is no interface to do this on the UI at the moment (this will change with a later update).
